We visited we a friend who lives in town and is regular. He did make reservations for 7:45 so we would miss the evening theater crowd. Great pick your toppings thin crust pizza (there is a checklist on the table for each pizza), about medium sized .A decent size bowl of spaghetti and meat balls. My wife loved her linguine. The menu is not extensive and there was no overall 'theme' but the food we had was pretty good. They recommended a great wine and the waitress was excellent - both friendly and helpful. We booked at the last minute and were glad we did. Not a fine dining experience if that is what you want but a comfortable experience. We split a salad and the entree portions were a good size. My husband had a Thai noodle type dish and he really enjoyed it. I had the prime rib which came as I requested. We didn't have dessert but marvelled at a couple of plates that went by. Lire plus

We had a great time at Bijou and I don't agree with any of these negative reviews. To me a chalkboard menu and higher prices reflect this restaurant's commitment to local food and keeping things interesting during changing seasons. I respect this restaurant for providing quality food and taking their time rather than taking a touristy "more bang for your buck" approach. One that note though, I did notice the service was a little slow. Not really slower than I'd expect considering the care that goes into the food, but if you're rushing to catch a show this place is maybe not your best bet. When we had our Stratford trip we made our reservation on a night where we weren't seeing any shows and got to appreciate a slower paced and delicious meal. Lire plus

Confession: I don't come here for the food. I come because I live close by and I like the environment, especially when I'm eating alone. It's just a fun place to spend an hour, and I'm sure that's why it's always busy and obviously a successful business. I've been twice recently, and both times I ordered the sirloin steak. I'd normally stick to burgers and wings at this type of place, but the waitress was very convincing that steak was their specialty. The first time she was right! The first steak I had was every bit as good as what you'd get at, say the Keg on a good nite. I was quite impressed! So I went back two weeks later and ordered the same steak dinner. This time I was disappointed. Although it was cooked perfectly (to the medium rare spec I ordered), the beef wasn't of high quality. Instead it was tough and full of grizzle. Not a great experience and certainly not acceptable for a $25 entree. I'll no doubt go back to Jack Astors but I'm going to stick to pub fare. That's obviously what they're good at. Lire plus

My family and I have been coming to Grog's for years now. It's a great place to come to enjoy friends, food, and have a laugh. The service at Grog's is unbelievable great! Everyone is so nice and brings a positive atmosphere to the restaurant. It is always a good idea to make reservations before going to Grog's because it is always busy, in a good way. The location is just outside of the Grand Bend Strip, about a 10 minute drive with a lot of parking. It's a great place to go after a long day at the beach. Now, the food at this restaurant is fantastic. It is always fresh and delicious. My favourite dish there is the panzarotti with their famous zany bread, which I highly recommend. All the dishes they have on the menu are prepared in a timely manager and it never disappoints. Grog’s is a great place to bring your family and friends and enjoy all the wonderful people and food. Went here with friends. They been here before My wife and I had not. Our server ask if we been before and then helped us on some questions we had about the menu. Dave was very helpful with our decisions. He did not rush us and was very patient. Our english is not great but he was able to understand and help us with deciding. The wrap and roll platter was a great taste of different items and coconut shrimp was very good. We order many different dishes to try and share. Dave mentioned they were big portions and he was right. We had lots of leftovers for next day. The decor was very nice and relaxing. not very busy though. A pleasant stop if you are in Ilderton, and especially if you are a fan of a pub atmosphere and cask conditioned ale. I've been here several times, and I usually stick with the nachos because they are a great value and are also quite tasty. But I have had the Steak and Guinness Pie which is also quite the treat. Service has always been great when I have been. I always get a few pints of cask ale when I go, and am never disappointed. It is always fresh and well kept. Rich is a true cellarmaster and knows his beer. As a result, this is a destination for lovers of true cask ale, and the only place in the south west of Ontario to try this unique style of ale. The atmosphere is comfy, nice booths, a bar to sit at, a seperate room with televisions for those inclined to watch a game, and there is also a large screen in the main room for the larger events. Overall, highly a recommended stop if you are in Ilderton or area. No where else near here can you get cask ale, great service, and really tasty food. I'll be back! Lire plus

Since moving to the north end of London in 2011, my family has started to frequent this restaurant. The staff is always pleasant. Have never had poor service in the year that we've been going. Breakfast is good, except sometimes the homefries are a bit cold/frozen. The specials at dinner are a reasonable price for all that you get. I brought in a tour group of 33 people and the manager Jodi and her staff were waiting for us when we arrived. They provided great service and the food was very good. The group all voted they would go back again! Thank you so much! Our travel date was on 9/24/11 and arrived around 6:15pm for dinner. I highly recommend Kipps Lane Fish n Chips! I was hard pressed to find a classic fish n chip joint such as I had adored as a teen in Toronto in the mid 1970s. A true, halibut fish, hand filleted with the classic, puffed up batter and golden fries is a rare treat to still find these days especially from a family owned and operated restaurant who are so friendly and who take pride in what they serve you.
