We arrived in Kingston for a hockey tournament and searched for a restaurant that was able to accommodate a group of 40, half of which were kids. The owner together with his staff welcomed our team and did an amazing job. The kids had a great time, the service was the best we've seen from any east side Mario's, and they did a great job on the food. Hats off to the staff and the owner for going above and beyond! I've been to Darbar twice. The first time I had the lunch special with a beef curry (don't recall exactly what kind), and thought that it was bland, uninteresting, and it had no heat at all, surprising because I ordered it "hot" The second time I was invited to dinner with a visiting relative. I was reluctant to agree to this restaurant due to my previous experience, but we went nonetheless. This time, I ordered the lamb dansak, and was completely blown away. It was definitely among the best dishes I have ever eaten at a restaurant. The flavour was bold and complex but balanced, and with enough heat to make the dish exciting to eat. I had a taste of the other dishes at the table, which ranged from good to so-so, but my order was truly excellent. Both times, the service was prompt and polite, and the staff was very attentive without being intrusive. If all of the dishes on the menu were comparable to my last visit, I would not hesitate to give Darbar five stars for food. Unfortunately, many items are underperformers. Overall, if you didn't like Darbar, it's worth another shot - you probably just ordered the wrong item the first time. Lire plus

Whenever visiting my dad in Kingston, we go to this place for Sunday breakfast every time. He goes most Sundays and I know why. The wait staff is friendly, fast and efficient. The food is plentiful, served hot and there is a non-stop filling up of coffee! Prices are very reasonable for the portions. Be warned! This is a VERY popular place, so expect a delay when you get there because a lot of people are regulars and they too have to wait. Yes! Talk about Asian Hospitality! If this is how all the Asian restaurants run outside of the GTA (particularly, Toronto, Scarborough, Finch areas), I am willing to drive further for it! The sushi definitely had a different style to it - both in taste and presentation, and I have had my fair share of general sushi. Hands down, their sushi was really something else. A couple of friends and I went in for dinner about a week ago. As soon as we sat down the waitress was over to take our drink orders. We all decided to get the special of roasted chicken with a mushroom sauce, it was absolutely to die for. The portions were large and potatoes and green beans were cooked to perfection. For dessert we shared a pumpkin creme brulee between the three of us. It was so decadent. Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant for someone who is looking for a great pub in Kingston Lire plus

Based on the reviews of this place, we decided to give it a try. The restaurant is really small, probably only about 10 small tables. The servers are very kind and attentive. It was a tad confusing as we had about three different servers throughout our lunch. The sushi chefs were not very kind, they seemed a bit put out, as if they didn't enjoy where they were. The seaweed salad and miso soup are amazing! I loved the way they decorated the plate for the seaweed salad, very cute! The sushi was really good, it came out quickly and it tasted delicious. I highly recommend the K-Rock roll, it is deep-fried to perfection! The only thing is that the K-Rock roll is about $12.95, but for eight pieces, it isn't too bad. Our total came out to $83 for four people, a tad pricey but, we polished all of the sushi, it was that good! I highly recommend this place, not only is the food good, the servers are very kind. We frequent this little piece of culture in downtown Belleville as often as we can. The lunch menu is incredible. Where else can you get delicious sandwich/quiche/salad with soup for $10? The bread is organic and baked fresh on the premises. The service is friendly and when you ask about the food they can always tell you what you want to know. The atmosphere is lovely and when the kitchen is open like it is there is nothing to hide. The bistro is impeccably clean and it is obvious that the chef/owner takes great pride in his business. We have eaten every sandwich, quiche, and meat pie on the menu as well as every soup and salad. We are never disappointed. For dinner you have to try the chef's table that takes place twice per month. An opportunity to sit with 12 other people to enjoy the surprise chef's choice menu of starter, main, and dessert.
